I like the straightforwardness of this video. It is a simple matter. It is not about rights.

Old Books for the new "recession"
Books to read to children during a financial crisis
Erica S. Perl writes: “The first time I heard the word recession, I was 10 years old and it was 1978. Many of the books I discovered during the late 1970s featured themes of economic hardship that made my circumstances seem manageable by comparison. A review of popular American children’s books of the past century reveals a recurring theme in the children’s publishing industry: When times are tough, cue the stories about times that were even tougher.”...

If you can't say anything nice....
I have been discouraged lately about the negativity with all of the campaigning and especially as we fight to pass Prop 8. Those who oppose Prop 8 seem so vicious in their attacks and I am so tired of the civil rights argument. Same sex couples who engage in domestic partnershp have all the same "civil rights" as those who couples who are married under the CA state family code.
Then why do we care so much. We are seeking to protect the divine institution of marriage. We believe that marriage is sacred and is ordained of God even before we came here to earth. We believe in plan of happiness that allows us to return to live with our Heavenly Father. The family is central to this plan. And children are entitled to be born into a home with a father and a mother who honor these sacred vows. Gender is essential and divine.
Same sex attraction is acted on as a behavior. We feel those brothers and sisters who fight these impulses but it is a behavior not a condition. And why do those who choose an alternative lifetstyle define their identity in such a limited way.
Anyway I have been impressed that throughout this fight and yes it is a fight we can still reach out to others in respect and love. Not tolerance by condoning lifestyles or teachings that we believe go against the sacred plan of our Eternal Father but in love and understanding while remaining firm in our faith and resolve to defend the sacred institution of marriage and this is why I am blogging so much about Prop 8. Protect marriage and our children!

YES on Prop 8
This was a great time to start blogging because I have volunteered for the Yes on Prop 8 digital army. As you might know we are facing a crucial ammendment to our state constitution here in California. YES on PROP 8 is to protect traditional marriage and add to our state constitution to define marriage as between one man and one woman. Recently activist judges in our state have tried to bypass the traditional view of marriage and we are in a great fight here in our state. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints we have been asked to donate our time and means to this fight to protect our families. So this will the first of many posts to do our part.
Here is a video describing the effects of same sex marriage on one young family in Mass.
Powerful stuff as we have a kindergartner who just started public school this year.
